Estonia has intention to join the North-South International Transport Corridor
On April 7, "Azerbaijan Railways" CJSC held a meeting with the delegation led by the Minister of Public Administration of the Republic of Estonia and Co-Chair of Azerbaijani-Estonian Intergovernmental Commission Mikhail Korb.
During the meeting, the head of the "Azerbaijani Railways", Javid Gurbanov, spoke about the role of international transport corridors in improving the transit potential and the challenges ahead.
J. Gurbanov, speaking about the performance of the North-South International Transportation Corridor, announced that the construction of a railway bridge over the Astara River and the 8.3 km single-track railway from the Astara station to the state border of the Islamic Republic of Iran has now been completed. Currently, the test trail passes through the newly built bridge. The railway is now 600 meters long on the Iranian side. The construction area of the railway station is 35 hectares and includes the terminal for unloading cargo.
During the meeting, mutual cooperation relations were discussed.
Minister of Public Administration of the Republic of Estonia and Azerbaijani-Estonian Intergovernmental Commission Co-Chair Michail Korb, in his speech stressed the importance of further expansion of bilateral cooperation. He added that Estonia is interested in developing relations with Azerbaijan in all possible fields. Estonia has intention to join the North-South International Transport Corridor.
The parties stressed the importance of expanding bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the event, a bilateral memorandum was signed.
